It’s The Same

Once you get here
After the shock
Kind of wears off
You grow cold
To what all is going on
Along with those around you
What feelings you once had
Inside of you kind of dies away
To where you have nothing
As far as what those back here
Call emotions
You are just cold inside
You don’t even think about
Any of the things you have to do
You just go ahead and do them
When you’re looking at
What all has happened
Everywhere around you
Your eyes seem to be
Looking right straight through
Not really seeing anything
That is in front of you
It’s almost as if your eyes
Have no soul in them
To be looking through
You kind of are just going
Through the motion
But not truly there at all
Till what ever you were inside is gone
Either my time or in yours

To Who

Lord
Who do I write this letter to
I am just a soldier over here
Fighting a war I don’t understand
I can’t write to my family back home
Because of all I have seen and done
Nothing I can tell them about it for sure
None could ever understand
When we don’t ourselves
Never have I been hated so bad before in my life
How we are hated over here by all of these people
When we get papers from back home
Telling us about how much these people
Are thanking us for helping them
When we know damned well they are not
There is nothing in this country
That has not been touch by war
In someway or other
You’ll be driving down the road
Kids playing ball
Over along the side of the road
That’s about that time another damned bomb
Goes off
Blowing another one of our trucks all to hell
Killing more of us and hurting even more
Yes I’m just a soldier sitting here
Writing this letter
To Who
I sure as hell can’t send it home
Thank s for your time

Put A Smile

We all have lost brothers
Family and friends
Over these pass years of our lives
Now I know we all do miss them so
But believe me when I tell you
Thou they are gone from us in life
They each are still with each of us
Deep here inside of me and you
Leaving us only to
Close your eyes as I do
Then I can see them
All just as they use to be
I can even hear them
Talking as clear as yesterday
Then when we are through talking
Inside my head I open up my eyes
That is when everyone can get to see
What those few moments can do

On this very old face of me
Just as it can for you
Bring them back just for
That moment or two
Being forever with each of you
